Level 2 Award in Door Supervision
The Specialist Security Group will put the super in your door supervision course. The Private Security Industry Authority Act 2001 has been in effect for twelve years now! The Level 2 Award in Door Supervision has been developed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA). It is based on the relevant SIA Specifications. SSG will give you the skills and confidence to apply for an SIA licence and work as a Door Supervisor within the private security industry.
Private security vs Public security, whats the difference?
Unless you're employed by a government department such as the Ministry of Defence you'll be working in the Private security Industry and require a SIA licence.
Whats a Door Supervisor?
Sometimes referred to as Doorman and traditionally Bouncer or cooler in North America. The role of a door supervisor can be undertaken by anyone regardless of gender the only pre-requisite is that you are at least 18 years of age.
SIA, who are they?
The Security Industry Authority regulate the Private Security and have powers given to them by Parliament. The SIA answers to the home secretary.
What does this mean for me?
This means that you are required to hold a door supervisors licence to work legally in this role. You can't put a price on peace of mind; working without a SIA (Door Supervisor) licence could lead to a 6 month prison sentence.
The qualification comprises 4 mandatory units:
- Unit 1 - Working in the Private Security Industry
- Unit 2 - Working as a Door Supervisor
- Unit 3 - Conflict Management for the Private Security Industry
- Unit 4 - Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry
Complete these 4 security units and gain your B-TEC National Diploma in Providing Security Services.
